Saturday 2/10/18 Mardi Gras is upon us! Let’s celebrate Mardi Gras by helping this neighborhood parade raise funds for local school arts/band programs. The parade has been shortened per feedback from last year so do not fear!
Before Muster: 11am Connie is opening up her (empty with working bathrooms) house near the parade end, park in the neighborhood, drop off you folding chair and cooler
Muster: 12:45pm. 4/5 Academy at Fifth Avenue, we parade down to the Imperial and then jam with other bands and eat and drink!
Step off: 1pm
Costume: Mardi Gras monochromatic: pick a Mardi Gras color (green, people, yellow/gold) and wear it from head to toe
Parking: Near muster point or on the street near the end (near Connie’s!).
Marta: A mile walk from East Lake to muster point. Then 0.6 mile walk from the end of the parade to East Lake.. Not too bad. Buses help.
After the parade, jam with Black Sheep and head over to Connie’s to enjoy a band soiree
If you are new in our midst, you’ll love this event. Part of the original band’s mission included the idea of a mom cooking one afternoon and a kid hearing a marching band and going WTF how could it be.. is that.. is that.. a A MARCHING BAAAAND?! This event is cool like that.. last year it was cool like that and a bit long but this year it shall be shorter which you’ll be happy about. So, thank you for joining us. Come check out this parade and participate in the origins of the group that has been bringing you and everyone else in Atlanta such joy for the last 44 years… Haven’t joined us but always wondered about doing so? e-mail email@example.com. Hurry!
